Mentoring and GIYP
A Mentorship Programme has been developed and commenced at programme inauguration. This programme links the participant with a successful businessman or woman in or outside of Guyana for the purpose of advice, guidance and counseling, and support. Most of the mentors targeted are persons from the business community (entrepreneurs), however the persons who actually sign on to the programme are young professionals who feel the need to give back to society of their time and talent and who are not necessarily entrepreneurs. To counter this situation, there was the introduction of the concept of “peer mentoring” in which successful young entrepreneurs are encouraged to get involved in the programme. It is expected that these persons would facilitate more meaningful and participatory mentoring relationships because of their youthfulness and experience in entrepreneurship.
